Alaskan Guns? What would you take?

So, hypothetically say you were going to finally live your dream and quit your job, sell most of your worldly possessions, pack up and head to the "frontier wilderness" in Alaska. Before you left, or when you got there, what firearms would you make sure you added to your collection?

A high-powered rifle? A large caliber handgun? A suped-up 12 gauge pump? And what specific brands, styles and models? Are some guns better designed for cold, punishing weather?

Chime in please! I'm curious what and why you'd take!

I would think a handgun large enough to deter a bear attack, and a rifle large enough to take down big game at a long distance but rugged enough for the conditions. And a shotgun for all life's unknowns and for all around utility. But which?!

  1. Phased plasma rifle in the 40-Watt range.
Yes, I will make this same joke every... single... time...

  2. There are lots of accidental shootings, rage-induced shootings, and shooting sprees. Not to mention other gun-related examples of stupidity.

  3. Remington 870 12 pump, Ruger .44 Magnum Redhawk in shoulder holster, Nylon 66 .22 autoloader, Ruger M77 .338 Winchester Magnum, Remington 600 .350 Magnum carry gun.

  4. There are those that are made from cheap manufacturers, not delivering what is needed. Some get jammed, lock us out from our safes, some simply are not worth the price by being readily available to anyone who attempts to open here

  5. Well, that’s quite an adventure/survival; so, I will grab almost everything, including a survival pistol. The idea is to be well-prepared for the unexpected, especially from fellow humans. Check out some interesting things about survival pistols here:

Keep it clean and courteous people. Lively is good, mean spirited is bad. Thanks for participating!
